We provide comprehensive and dynamic rehabilitative services to our patients with musculoskeletal problems affecting the shoulders, spine, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet, and we specialize in rehabilitative services for individuals who have undergone total joint replacement surgery.
Our team's approach is built around focusing on each patient's goals with our specialty-trained physical therapists, who develop individualized programs to help each patient reach his/her maximum functional potential. Our team uses a broad spectrum of manual techniques combined with the most up-to-date therapeutic modalities, exercise equipment and treatment approaches to optimize rehabilitation.
POA Physical Therapy also encompasses Hand Therapy. We currently have 3 Occupational Therapists and Certified Hand Therapists on staff, in addition to an Occupational Therapist Assistant. As a patient, your upper extremities, especially your hands, play a vital role in completing simple daily tasks such as, cooking a meal and getting dressed, as well as participating in leisurely activities and effectively functioning at work. Our therapists can treat a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical injuries and conditions involving the hand and upper extremities such as: soft tissue sprains and strains, fractures, arthritic and degenerative joint disease, trauma injuries including burns, overuse injuries/tendinopathies, tendon lacerations and repairs and much more. At POA Physical Therapy, you can feel confident that your therapists have achieved the highest level of competency and are well versed in current treatments and trends in Occupational and Hand Therapy.
Our rehabilitation programs follow specific, comprehensive post-surgical rehabilitation protocols that are highly focused on individualized treatment plans, with the goal of therapy to restore function, help each patient regain his/her strength and achieve optimal mobility. Our program includes a variety of treatment options built around individual goal setting to help each patient resume his/her normal activities. Goal setting is a team effort and will be established by your physical therapist and physician with your input on your short-term and long-term goals for your full recovery.
Our team has been trained to treat and help our patients recover from a wide variety of post-surgical procedures including:
Our work injury management program is an individualized, work-focused program designed to restore our patient's strength, endurance, movement and flexibility to ensure a safe and quick return to their workplace. Our program integrates the various rehabilitation disciplines necessary for strengthening, conditioning, improved body mechanics and education to help you optimize your recovery and return to work.
Our center has been specifically designed to help athletes at every level of their game – from professional, college and high school athletes, to the devout weekend warriors. At POA Physical Therapy, you will find a team of sports-related physical therapists and performance specialists dedicated to helping athletes of all ages get back to their game and, when possible, performing better than before. For us it all begins with education on injury prevention and working with athletes to help them optimize their performance and care for the intricate machines that make it all possible – their bodies.
Return to Play (RTP) is the decision-making process our team follows for returning an injured athlete to practice and/or competition. Adhering to this process is what eventually leads to a full medical clearance for a safe return to your sport. Our team works closely with POA’s physicians and other local referring physicians to protect the well-being of every athlete we treat, as well as ensure we continually adhere to our established RTP process. From our initial evaluation and treatment to the your return to practice, competition on the field, we stay focused on one goal – safely getting you back out there and back to your sport.
At POA Physical Therapy, functional performance testing and assessment enables athletes at every stage of their game to gain a better understanding of their current fitness level and to build a plan for optimizing their performance. Our program begins with an evaluation of your current fitness level and works with you to identify any deficiencies or areas for improvement.
Each evaluation above is then used to help us build individualized performance enhancement programs for our patients at POA Physical Therapy, as well as continue to measure their ongoing improved performance.
Our team is dedicated to helping athletes of all ages, abilities, and sports improve their athletic skills and provide training for injury prevention. Our programs have been designed to use various assessment criteria and testing as a way to help athletes at every level gain that extra edge and improve their speed, power, strength, and agility, or the return to optimal performance after being injured on or off the field.
Our team understands the physical demands playing sports puts on your body and the need for keeping it performing at optimal levels. At POA Physical Therapy, our clinicians have advanced education and training in athletic performance enhancement and injury prevention along with degrees in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy. In addition, each of our programs begins with a thorough assessment by a Certified Athletic Trainer or a Physical Therapist, allowing our team to build each athlete a highly-individualized plan for optimizing his or her performance.
